ALADDIN 2019 CHANGES
The Aladdin movie made in 2019 faced some critics on the design for the genie which was played by Will Smith. In the original cartoon released in 1992, the genie had a large upper body, similar to the physique of a body builder, although it wasn't impossible, adapting this to a live action film using CGI would be a challenge as that type of body would appear unrealistic and would look 'goofy' in real life.
Once the first look to the genie was revealed, fans would critic Will Smith on social media, specifically on his appearance, stating that he looks fat and overweight and the color of his skin was too blue. So the production team reacted to this by making two changes to the movie, the first and the most simple one was to change tone down the blue color on his skin, although this was way less blue than the original design of the genie of the cartoon, it was less of an eyesore. The second change was on the movie's marketing strategy with their subsequent trailers, where they emphasized them on the genie's human form or disguise hoping that the audience would focus more on the genie's character and personality rather then his appearance.
In the end the changes made by the team had positive feedback from fans and audiences alike.
