COMPONENT 1 - Double Page Spread Research & Development

This page consists of the research and development of my magazine double page spread:

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD RESEARCH

For the two page spread, I was initially hooked to this idea, but I soon realize that it would not fit with my topic, as my magazine will interview the star player of the school, instead of reviewing a match and so I had to find another inspiration.

Here's another good example that I like, not too overcrowded and the picture makes the page stand out, I'd like to use this idea if possible, where the picture may go over to the second page. My idea would be the player trying to drive (basketball drive).

This would eventually become my main inspiration for my double page spread.

This was another inspiration to my double page spread, the main aspect of it would be the big red text overlaying the whole page. I thought this would be a good idea and tried to implement it to my own.

Here was one of the essay writing design I've taken from a real magazine, this magazine looks a little bland, there were no drop quotes in it.

This looks more interesting with the drop quote in the middle, I feel like I would do something like this, though not this big, just to make it less bland and more interesting to see.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD DEVELOPMENT

Here was one of my prototype works, as I soon realized it wouldn't really fit to my magazine as the topic I've later decided would be an interview and so this template would not fit, and so I scrapped the idea, and tried to imitate one of the magazine ideas I have researched on.

Here was the first design, where I tried to imitate one of my inspiration, and I immediately thought that it was perfect.

I then tried to add some extra design choices like this big letter D filling the entire page, though it looked cooler and would certainly add some uniqueness, I didn't think it would fit in the case of my magazine.

Now that my design is done, I decided to do contents of the double page spread. The contents consist of a four paragraph summary of Dyfan's impact and role in the game, then followed by interview questions being the main aspect of the page, then ended with a conclusion. Here I've also tried to add a design of a red border. I've also added a drop quote in the text

Here I changed the design once more by removing the red border, trying to think of other ways to implement the signature red lines of the magazine, and also removed the drop quote from the text, instead, I would put it in the picture and tilted 90 degrees to create a cool effect.
