Moral Panics are irrational fears that have been spread and exaggerated by the media, with 5 stages being Concern, Hostility, Consensus, Disproportionality and Volatility.

The internet hoax and urban legend “Momo” caused moral panic to specifically children and parents due to the instructions of the challenges encouraging them to do self harm.

Post Modernism

Jean Baudrillard

Baudrillard added to the postmodernism theory suggesting that everything is a copy of a copy of a copy, with there being reality, heightened reality and hyperreality and where the audience prefers hyper reality compared to reality. Simulacra, a representation of reality that is fake, never existed or no longer exists.
