Fox News VS Dominion

HOW DO MEDIA COMPANIES GET REGULATED?

The media is regulated in different ways, one of the ways in which they are regulated are through the legal system, one case study of this is Dominion, a voting machine company suing Fox News owned by Rupert Murdoch for defamation and malice. In 2020, after Joe Biden's win against Donald Trump in the president election, Sidney Powell, one of Trump's lawyers, came out and stated that Dominion was corrupt which changed & deleted votes in favor of Joe Biden. Shortly after that, Fox News featured Sidney Powell in their news, agreeing and supporting her claims. One of the reasons Fox News featured Sidney Powell in their news was because of the Cultivation Theory, Fox would like to show the audiences interest to prevent them from viewing other news outlets like NewsMax. The situation caused Dominion to a loss of business, which in turn caused them to take legal action and sue Fox News for 1.6 million US dollars. During legal investigation, Fox News's hosts like Tucker Carlson is exposed to have lied on air to agreeing with Sidney Powell's statements, which was during  calling it "crazy" and "absurd".
